Philippe Dagen is professor of Contemporary Art History at the Université Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne and has been an art critic at Le Monde since 1985. He is the author of numerous books, on modern painting in particular, including on painters such as Francis Bacon, Paul Cézanne and Pablo Picasso. His commentary on contemporary art and culture makes him one of the most important art critics in France today.
