BIOGRAPHY
Sjraar van Heugten
Sjaar van Heugten studied art history at Utrecht University. From 1988 until 2010 he worked at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, where he was Head of Collections for eleven years. In 2010 he became an independent art historian. Sjaar van Heugten has published numerous books and articles, primarily about Van Gogh and his contemporaries. He has organized exhibitions in Europe, Japan and the USA. Between 2014 and 2016, he was curator of three exhibitions dedicated to Van Gogh at the Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles. In 2015 he organized the exhibition Van Gogh in the Borinage. The Birth of an Artist (Mons, Belgium). In 2017 he curated Van Gogh and the Seasons (Melbourne, Australia).
